About Me

       Desreta Jackson played young, Miss Celie in the Oscar nominated film, The Color Purple directed by Steven Spielberg. Born in Tortola The British Virgin Island at the age of nine, Desreta came to the U.S. with her mother escaping impending doom. After arriving in Los Angeles, they lived on Skid Row until her mother was able to save enough money for an apartment in Watts, California. Wanting to avoid Desreta’s quick involvement in gang activity, her mother enrolled her into acting classes. She was a natural and after only a few weeks of classes, her first audition was a cattle call with noted casting director, Ruben Cannon whom notice her out of a world wide search and pick her out of a crowed room after her audition, that lead to a screen test with Spielberg who fell in love with her detailed interpretation of Celie and cast her immediately.
Five years after the Color Purple Desreta continued to act and landed roles in Sister Act, Mancuso FBI and other made for -TV- movies before leaving Hollywood and getting a degree from L.A.C.C. for directing. Along with involving herself immensely in studies of African American Culture and hair. After a dramatic life changing event with a obsess fan Desreta Jackson life the entertainment world and channeled her energy in other directions.

Desreta learned she had a gift for business and negotiations she became and Activist and a developer in her own committee investing over 1.1 million dollars of her own money into rebuilding her committee. Were she build house from the ground up and turned them into homes for families coming from an assortment of shelters like batter, rape and homeless. She pioneered a program that educated, taught, and hired within its commute.” She then took those talents and spent 12 years researching and perfecting on how to grow African American hair to great lengths. By doing so, she started making her own shampoos, conditioners, oils, and treatments, and along the way discovered she was also an inventor at heart. She was recognized by Innovate Breakthroughs and Technologies for her contribution to the hair care world has an inventor and even bestowed as the new Madden C.J. Walker by the intuition and clients as well.  Her home base business became so successful from her homemade products it lead to a demand that was too great for her to meet on an individual bases anymore. She is launching another first again her very own product line BlackSilk “The First African can American Luxury Hair Line.

Desreta is currently starring in a new film as the Lead Angela based on the book Sweet Lavendar It’s described as an “influential classic story”—a cross between August Wilson’s “Fences” and Langston Hughes’ “Not Without Laughter.” Along the Dirt Road is a depiction of an African American family that is torn apart by betrayal, abandonment and infidelity living in a small Louisiana town during the 1960 the South. Filming is scheduled to being in March of 2014.
